How we approach it

A good built-in looks like it was always part of the house. Getting there starts with measuring the room as it really is, walls out of square and floors out of level, and designing each unit around what it holds and how you use it, from a run of books to a television that disappears.

Every unit is drawn and rendered for your approval before anything is cut, then built in our shop and fitted and scribed on site. We work in solid hardwood and veneer, stained, oiled or painted, with colors and finishes chosen to suit the room rather than a catalog.

Questions we get about custom cabinetry and built-ins

How do you price custom built-ins?

We price each project around its dimensions, materials, door style, finish and installation conditions. Send photos or drawings and the budget you have in mind, and we'll come back with a budgetary range. Our white oak built-in armoire came to about $12,000.

Can you build from my architect's or interior designer's drawings?

Yes. We turn the design set into shop drawings and renderings for approval, then build to them. If you only need the drawings, we offer design-only packages.

Do you do painted cabinetry?

Yes. Painted and stained finishes are done in our shop, with colors chosen to suit the room.

Do you build kitchen and bathroom cabinetry?

Yes. We price the cabinetry from drawings, taking account of the hardware, interiors and appliance openings. We build and install the cabinetry; plumbing, electrical, countertops and appliances are handled by your contractor or other trades.

More for the trade: Architectural millwork · Restaurant and bar millwork · Exhibition and art fabrication

Have something in mind?

A sketch, a sentence or a full design set is enough to start. Tell us about it and we'll take it from there.
